I’m pretty sure every summer, this Beatles song sticks in my head. It’s just so lighthearted and happy and indicative of the summer. This time of year, when the Northeast coast clouds part and the sun FINALLY melts the snow, I’m all “here comes the sun, duh-nuh-nuh-nuh…” for a solid three weeks. No joke.
The problem with the sun peeking out through the clouds is that it has a way of reminding me of all the little upgrades I intended to complete last year but didn’t. Namely, upgrading my window blinds. Seriously, a whole year and I couldn’t seem to get myself together enough to tackle them. This year, I decided, was to be different. Here comes the sun…
So, I took an honest look at my windows blinds in Bryan Mawr, PA. The blinds I’ve had on these bad boys since the year I moved in (five years ago; my last year in my 20s) were those generic, flimsy mini-blinds. You know—those grayish-whitish-creamish ones. Nothing to brag about.
Well, in the last several months, my cat has destroyed three sets of them:
- Master bedroom mini-blinds: he got tangled up, panicked, and ripped part of the frame from the wall as he escaped.
- Dining room mini-blinds: he saw a bird, got excited, jumped when it flew by, and cracked a few slats into pieces.
- Living room mini-blinds: he was in an intense moment of make-believe, in which he believed the cord was a mouse trying to best him. He got pumped, then he bit and grabbed hold of the cord, jumped down while holding it in his teeth and messed up the track. Instantly inoperable.
When I tell people Mr. Whiskers is “lucky he’s cute,” I mean it from the depths of my soul.
Nevertheless, those mini-blinds needed to go; Mr. Whiskers was simply trying to help affirm me in my big-girl decision to choose custom, quality window blinds and coverings.
So, I popped over to Blinds & Drapery Showroom just down the road from my home in Bryan Mawr, PA. Two hours later I had blinds, shades, and drapes chosen, customizations selected, an in-home consultation set, and a date for installation put on the calendar! Here’s what I chose:
- EverWood® Distinctions® in cream to complement the bedrooms and bathrooms throughout my home. This is an alternative wood option that has added a more classic look to each room.
- Silhouette® Window Shadings in the kitchen, which are designed to allow me control over the amount of light that comes in. Plus, there are no cords or tapes for Mr. Whiskers to mess with!
- Tailor-made drapery for the master bedroom. I’m finally a grown up! B&D’s drapery is gorgeous, and the design expert there knew exactly how to help me achieve the look I’ve always wanted!
The experts at Blinds & Drapery Showroom matched my vision to my space perfectly. I could not be happier! If you live in this area, I encourage you to do the same as I did: listen to your cat, sing a little Beatles tune, and pop over to meet the B&D experts ASAP!
