Is 2018 the year you vowed to transform your average Bryan Mawr, PA home into a luxe one? If so, follow these tips from the pros at Blinds & Drapery Showroom!
Choose a key piece
Whether it be a piece of artwork, an eye-catching chaise lounge, or a massive lighting fixture, choose something that will act as a talking piece and a design-setter; a piece to which all others bow.
Mirrors
A mirrored wall (one with all various sized and shaped wall mirrors) or even one or two oversized floor-leaning mirrors have a great way of making a smaller room appear larger. Mirrors are also excellent solutions to dimly-lit rooms! And, even if you have neither a dimly lit space or a small one—mirrors are an instant face-lift for any room, adding luxury and nostalgia.
Updating your hardware
Knobs and pulls are often overlooked in the home, throughout all the rooms. A quick, easy, and relatively inexpensive way to add lavishness throughout your home is to coordinate and upgrade these little features! Look into contemporary chrome, antique glass, or vintage art deco options!
Window coverings
Oh, window coverings… the real ones—you know, the ones made for your home—tie everything together so nicely. Our forte happens to be in the window covering arena (our name gives that away: Blind & Drapery Showroom!) and we love to fashion homes with customized window shades, blinds, drapery, and/or panels. If you’re lacking in this department, give us a call. Nothing says, “welcome” like a perfectly polished-off room with the right window coverings. Note: if you already have treatments you love, but they’re in need of cleaning or repairs—give our team a call!
Small rooms need light colors!
Softer, lighter colors will help the small spaces in your home feel less cramped. Further, remove or stow away any items that could cause a “cluttered” look—that’s an easy and CHEAP upgrade, right?!
Mix it up
Patterns and textures, that it. Flat fabrics paired with a wild-patterned throw pillow, for example. A tactile throw blanket in a muted cream to complement your light tan couch (and function as a cuddle-up blanket) is a great idea!
Old and new
Your rooms should reflect who you are and where you came from. Even if you have a modern interior design perspective, you can work your family heirlooms into the fold. Your father’s workbench tells a story. You grandmother’s desk clock tells a story. Your new, modern couch will eventually tell stories, too! There’s no reason that your past and present items can’t go together.
Seasonal slipcovers
Slip covers have a bad reputation, but they are fantastic, in my opinion! They serve as a means to change your furniture’s look to reflect the season. These are also ideal for gatherings which include children or room your kids use often.
2018 isn’t over—this can still be the year you transform your home into a luxe, relaxing space! We hope our tips helped you and we look forward to working with you when you’re ready to choose, redo, repair, or clean your window shades in Bryan Mawr, PA, give our experts at Blinds & Drapery Showroom a shout!
