Are you a little unsure which color blinds to choose for your window blinds in Media, PA home? I can relate—I struggled with this, too. On the one hand, I want my living room to be lively and unique, but I also want it to stand the test of time (and not cost me an arm and a leg in changes, just to keep up with passing trends!).
Let me back up a second—I like gray. No, I LOVE gray. I wear gray and black clothing most of the time, I love gray walls and charcoal furniture…. It’s such a calming color for me. Further, it’s a nice, neutral tone that seems to match anything. Well, a couple of months ago, I decided the time had come for me to upgrade my window treatments; mini-blinds just don’t say, “hi! I’m a grown up!” like I wish they did… So, it was time to rid my humble home of them and upgrade to real, custom blinds from Blinds & Drapery Showroom—a trusted name here in the Media, PA community I live in.
Okay, now you know my true love of gray. And, it shows in my home. My walls are a light gray with white crown molding. My furniture is deep, charcoal and I have a lovely new cream-colored accent chair I found at a thrift store which adds loads of character to the living room. There’s a chevron area rug over my light hardwood floors full of—you guessed it—grays and whites.
Can you see my dilemma? Do I match my new blinds to the trim or select a different hue (maybe gray…)?
Here’s what my B&D expect had to say:
“If you are one to enjoy changing the paint on the walls often, match the trim—the blinds will become part of the window, so-to-speak; a background. If you don’t plan to change the wall colors often or soon—dare to choose COLOR!”
The truth is, both blended-in blinds and stand-out ones are amazing (especially if you choose custom blinds from B&D). But, choosing which route to take depends mostly on your personality: is it ever-changing or traditionally inclined? I, for example, won’t be changing my wall colors anytime soon. The thing is, if you want an accent color but don’t want to be stuck with it for more than a couple of years, choose blinds which blend in. That’s the moral of this story.
This was good advice and I am glad I sought it from the experts. You see, in my case, my living room was screaming for a pop of color. It’s lovely and it’s just how I want it, but… I’ll admit, before I “dared to choose color,” it was missing that wow-factor. I selected Parkland ® Wood blinds in a rich navy blue. They’re stunning. I’ve added a few throw pillows and an afghan with the same navy and, now, my living room has wow-factor.
Whether you dare to choose color or want wood blinds that look like they’re part of the window (through stain or white-on-white matching), entrust the Blinds & Drapery Showroom experts with your next project. They’re wonderful!
